Grilled Chicken Recipe

30 06 2009

The 4th of July is at the end of this week and it’s time to get out those grills again. If you have never made marinated chicken and put it on the grill outside – now is the time. This recipe shows you a simple marinade and a way to get juicy grilled chicken right off the grill. Enjoy!

This weekend

I’d been looking forward to this past weekend for a while. We went to a wedding of a friend of mine outside the main line in Philly and it was absolutely stunning. One of the great things about the weekend was that we got to stay in King of Prussia and get in some great retail therapy while we there.

James stopped in at CO Bigelow for the first time and got some really awesome cologne. It was a great moment because usually cologne/aftershaves make him sneeze after a while but this one does not. The funny girls at the counter (who were fittingly playing a MJ tribute with some of his best songs) told us “this is how a man should smell” and they were completely right.

My big score was in Nordstrom. James hit the men’s sale and got some more dress socks which were very needed, but I got shoes. I got the basic black Tory Birch flat with the silver buckle, which are just the right kind of shoe for me. I love flats and these are dressy and simple. I wound up wearing them to the wedding this weekend, but would not recommend wearing shoes to a wedding to break them in. However, I love the shoes and am pleased to have a great black flat finally. These are replacing some payless shoes that I bought to keep under my desk at work.

Finally, here’s one picture of the lovely wedding ceremony in the garden at the Villanova Conference Center in Radnor, PA.

One Bright Thing

29 06 2009

3220092623_5c98715909_bThis picture came from House Beautiful probably almost a year ago now.  I loved the color of this door and how it was the bright thing on the home.  It stood out so perfectly, you wondered what the inside must be like and almost itched to open it.  I can image a cool seaside home filled with the bright colors of Aero or a airy all white palace, pristine and inviting.  Almost anything could be behind there, and the possibilities seem wonderful.

We’ve all seen houses where the color is used liberally, but I like restricting it to one bright thing like this door, that makes the home bright and interesting.

Time for the weekend

This week I’ve been so sick that everytime I move I feel like I break out in a sweat.  It’s been really awful – and I haven’t been able to work.  This was especially bad timing for me because I had been working on a project, photographing my plants everyday.  Anyway I went out and took some pictures yesterday when I started feeling better and that’s what is above.  My marigolds have had the benefit of many days of rain this week.

I wanted to post my flowers because, well, it’s been a devastating week in the news.  Today we should just smile!

We are on the road today, I am finally going to the wedding I have been looking forward to for quite a while.  Iam so excited, but it also marks seven months to the DAY of my own wedding.  Can you say minor freakout?!  Have a good weekend everyone!

A perfect pair?

25 06 2009

Do you think this chair:

GoCartDeskPeel3QF8I think paired together this combination could be the hotness in workspaces.  My workspace right now is cramped.  I’d love to be able to spread out in the new house I think we have the perfect room!

Chair from Target, Desk from CB2.

Tyler Florence: Grilled Potato Salad recipe

24 06 2009

Sorry for the late posting today – I am still a bit sicker than I would like to be. I found this great recipe for you though, Tyler Florence puts his twist – grilled on a potato salad that would be perfect if you already have your grill out and are planning for a meal al fresco. Enjoy!

Of course!

23 06 2009

In typical Erin fashion, the day after we make a deal for our home and just a few days before I go to a wedding extravaganza, I fall ill. Perhaps it was all the waiting or maybe this rainy weather…whatever it is, I am under the weather and have taken to my bed to get rested for this weekend.  Fear not though, I am a beauty warrior and I shall paint my nails while in bed.  It’s a tough life :)

One thing I wanted to share with you is this darling Typhoon Kitchen Scale I found on amazon. Isn’t the red color great? I love the bowl on top. It would be just wonderful for baking from old recipe books where the ingredients are measured in pounds. I love the red color scale but would love it more in a butter yellow.  I’ve definitely got a thing for yellow right now.   Let me get back to bed and find some more awesome decor!

My home search update

22 06 2009

I didn’t want to jinx anything since the owner of the house was not what I would call motivated, but we did get our offer on the house accepted this weekend!  It’s all very exciting and I will update as much as I can about it, but it’s finally nice to have a place that we can call home.  James and I have been searching for a home for over a year now, and it’s great to know that barring inspection problems, we are on our way.

It’s once again time for the weekend.  Last weekend we went out to view houses and I’ve kept mum about it – and I will continue to until I have some good news.  Send good vibes our way!

I’ve posted some of my favorite inspiration pictures from Domino.  The kitchen picture above, I love the brown cabinets and the white subway tile on the walls, but am not so crazy about the floor.  The whole kitchen though looks useable and clean.

The last two pictures are for the paint.  I love a blue with a hint of grey, but then again I love a hint of grey in white or green as well.  It makes a little more sophisticated, and it’s much more subtle in person.

I hope you enjoyed my few inspiration pics!  Have a good weekend y’all!

Psst!  Head on over to Erin Gets Married and see a new Etsy wedding post.  Or stop in at my etsy shop and say hi

Silly Smiles

18 06 2009

I wanted to post this for everyone that needs a smile today!

Monty Python has long been a favorite of mine – I guess you can tell that I went to an engineering school in that regard!  I’m sending smiles out today because I need to some myself, I am very much feeling the need to renew my spirit.  This weekend is the last weekend we will have at home for a while so I am looking forward to some good laying on the couch time.
