Entertaining: Inspiration

20 02 2009

There are many reasons to throw a party and even more books about it.  Here’s a few helpful guides and places to find inspiration, recipes and how to’s for all of you entertaining endeavors.

One of my favorite things to do is watch someone who can make or do something that would be fun for a party.  Whether it is a cute cocktail, make a dish that you can pass or some decor, I think that watching someone else helps put you at ease.

Here’s Eddie Ross from Top Design and a blog I am addicted to making a Prosecco Cocktail for NYE.  Seeing him make this made me hope that by next year I am able to host a New Years party of my own.

Kate Spade has a set of books I refer to for parties.  They are cute, illustrated to make their point lightly and full of fun facts at the bottom of every page. (photo from Kate’s Paperie)

Kate Spade BookWilliams-Sonoma is another place to get great inspiration.  Not only do they offer a tool for everything, but they often have a book on just what you are looking for, or never knew you needed.  I like the inspiration their entertaining books bring, especially this one for kids parties.

Holidays often provide a reason to celebrate and bring friends together.  Martha Stewart always has a great section on the upcoming (or past) holidays and great recipes, crafts and ways to enjoy.  The Entertaining section on her website often features ideas for more casual get togethers as well, like movie night.

Lastly, I look to blogs for inspiration, information and entertainment.   {this is glamorous} has been a favorite of mine because whenever I look at the images she has chosen, I feel inspired to make my home as inviting as those images.
